My easter egger has recently mysteriously fallen ill. She was puffy for a few days but still eating drinking and it went a little unnoticed (new chicken owner). Until yesterday sgen she refused to leave the coop i knew something was wrong so my husband and i quickly went to the store for somw oxytetracyclene and electrolytes. She has no other symptoms she is not pale she has no visible wounds no swelling empty crop clear eyes no fluid leakjng from anywhere. This morning after only 1 syringe of antibiotic water she managed to break free (i tried to close the door to keep others out didnt think id have to keep her in so it wasnt really closed right). She is out and strong enough to walk but seems a little slow moving and uncoordinated maybe a little less lethargic than yesterday but still lethargic. Since she wanted out i put her in a wire dog crate to keep her still and let her get some sun. Gave her some boiled egg and water as well but im just not sure what is going on. Also not egg bound. If anyone has any idea please let me know.

How old is she? What do her droppings look like? Has she been wormed recently? How well is she eating and drinking? Can you check her skin all over and under her vent for evidence of tiny bugs (lice or mites?) Coccidiosis is a common disease that can cause puffing up or hunching, diarrhea or blood in stools, refusal to eat and drink, and extreme weakness. It is more common in chickens under 20 weeks old, but also may occur if new to the soil. Corid (amprollium) is good for that.

Not sure what her droppings look like today is her fst day isolated ill find out when we go to move her tonight. She is esting and drinking some 26 weeks no noticeable bugs or mites. Im probably over due for deworming. Her comb is a little dry and maybe paler than usual but not much.
