My Rhode Island Red has had a large, firm crop for months now. When we first noticed the problem in the winter, we secluded her and gave her all of the recommended foods to remedy the problem. It didn't seem to work, but she never acted sick so we put her back with the flock.
Months later, her crop is still large and hard. She's still not laying, whereas the other hens have started back up from the winter, and she's still not acting sick. My husband is away for an extended period for military training and I cannot let this chicken get sick on my watch because there is no way on Earth I could cull her.
Any advice or recommendations or previous experience with a clogged up crop without the hen behaving sickly? I'm terrified she's eventually going to go down hill.
