Our local feed store always has roosters and we ended up taking 2 bantams home. The one bantam is definitely a rooster- and doing great with our hens. The other, a black silkie, has never shown any rooster traits and I'm wondering if he is really a she. Reasons: we have 15 hens and twice I have collected 16 eggs. One of the eggs is exceptionally small- could one of the chickens lay 2 eggs a day or is it from my silkie "rooster"? Also, I have noticed the rooster mounting the silkie a few times- at first i thought it was a dominance thing and since the silkie is so quiet and submissive I assumed it was just that. He/she is very quiet, never a peep (no pun intended
