Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

@Youtjatoor
I agree with pullet on 1, cockerel on 2 but wanted to add that green sheen is NOT gender specific. Males get a brighter shade than females in their tails but any chicken with black in the plumage can have green, blue, or even purple sheen.

Excuse my ignorance, Im new to chickens.  Are these swedish flower hens? If yes, how old?  I have one Im almost 100% sure is a cockerel.

Yes they are. I wish I could give you exact ages but the women I got them from had various ages together so I don't know exact hatch dates for each chick. Can you post a pic of the one you believe is a cockerel? I'd love to see it

Let me first just say I am never buying straight run chickens ever again if I can avoid it! Tooooo much heartbreak. But, I have two chicks that are in question today! I was pretty confident the first was a pullet, but "her" neck feathers are getting a little too shiny and pointy for my comfort....

First, we have "Miffin". She's a cross, a Speckled Sussex and a Silkie (unsure of color of silkie parent), and about 6 weeks old or so. Friendly and docile, tiny tiny comb that just barely started developing into a hint of a single comb at the end of week 5. I know they're not the clearest pictures, sorry!

Next, we have Ozy, a five week old almost-certainly bantam buff Cochin! I say that because I grabbed "her" from a straight run "assorted bantams" bin at Tractor Supply but I'm pretty dang sure that's what she is. Standoffish, meek, comb has been relatively small and flesh/yellow, with only the slightest hints of red coming up here in week 5. Wattles are a little redder, but not by much.

Thanks so much all!

Pullets.

@Yoshii These two look like pullets. It's hard to judge the neck feathers without actually handling the chick but that patterning is super girly on the first!

About a week old dixie rainbow.

Mille Fleur D'uccle and Silver Sebright @ 4.5 weeks
Do Sebrights get any comb this early?

same Sebright:
I believe a male Sebright would have a tiny start of a comb by 5 wks. Yours is completely flat, so I'd guess female. It should stay pale well past 10 weeks. By then you'll know for sure that she's female.

Ok 5 out of 6 are cockerels. This one was my only EE possible pullet. Buuuuuut today I noticed a tinge of green sheen in her tail feathers. No comb whatsoever. 9 weeks old. Pls tell me I'm not 100% crap out of luck.
Then there's this one. acts all cockerel but is suuuuuuuuuuper slow feathering and no tail. But I do see slight tinge of green in the little it has too. What's it's deal?
This one COULD be male. It has some white splotches on wings ( could mean male) & acts like one. If the comb looks pinkish, then it's got one more check in the male column.

This little chicken has me stumped as far as gender. It was sold to me as a Jersey Giant pullet, but I'm thinking its actually an Australorp, which is fine either way.
Any ideas? She's about 7.5 weeks old.
Looks like a pullet.

Silkies are very hard to sex - even sometimes as 6 mo olds. However, I don't see any rooster traits yet. The comb looks both small & narrow. You'll have to wait a little longer to confirm.

Bantam Cochins are often the opposite, so your little one may be a pullet. Those little combs tend to grow & pink up early. A BYC friend had one chick that crowed at only 9 days old & her males grew pink combs by 2 weeks. It was crazy!
