none in NH, manchester is about 110K, and thats 1.5 hoursNearest city with a metro population over 200,000???
Comparing apples to apples. I purposely compared metro area because a lot of cities out west have deceptively small populations because we have room to sprawl. Boston's metro area is 4.6 million. There is a big difference between Billings (largest city in Montana 104k city, 168k metro) and Spokane, WA (my reference city 208K city, 548K metro) if you look only at city population, you would think Billings is half the size of Spokane... Not even close if you have been in both places. Boise, ID (where I used to live has a population of 205K but a metro area of 664K), so based on the city, you'd think it was a little smaller than Spokane, but it is actually about 20% larger. So that is why I used the Metro Population.none in NH, manchester is about 110K, and thats 1.5 hours
boston, ma has 617K and is 2.5 hours
worcester, ma is 182K and 3 hours
no towns over 100K in maine
none over 50K in vermont
I was referring to good shopping - I define that as something I couldn't just go to Walmart/Kmart to get. While I have complained in the past about Helena having horrible food choices, I can get decent food (with choices) within 150 miles and there are places that have something good within 50 miles.PRIME MINISTER, dear. No kings.
Goodness, just what do you guys qualify as good food?

Nearest "Best Buy", "Dillards", "Dress Barn" 120 miles. Nearest "Old Navy" 89 miles. Closest place with all 4? 251 Miles.
i guess i dont understand metro vs whateverComparing apples to apples. For all practical purposes, the city has a definite boundary defined by a map. It doesn't change unless the city annexes an outlying area. The metro area is what you would see as a single blob if you were flying over in a plane at night. This is typically constantly growing outward. Cities that aren't aggressive about annexing their outliers or places like Boise where Boise,Nampa,Caldwell,Meridian and Star have essentially grown together into a single entity seem deceptively small when you cite only the city population.i guess i dont understand metro vs whatever
my town has 1326 people in a 93.5sqmi area
walmart is 27 mi but takes 50 minutes
hmmm i think i understand but i dont think i live in a big enough area to really see itThe metro area
