Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Kinda depends on how severe the infestation is. The DE and borax (I use Terra) baits are good if you've caught it early, and for prevention. If you've got tons of ants that have moved in, you may need to use the chemicals first.

Thanks guys.  Of course it is Sunday and any supply store that is open is 30+ miles away.  I have Seven, and Home Defense Spectracide on hand.  Really wanted to put something down today but I might just scrape out the shavings (most of them) and go shopping tomorrow for one of the above and then put shavings back.  :th   This is why nothing is ever done as fast as it should be done.  There is always a wrinkle.

On the plus side, I might be having some chicks soon :fl   IF any of those eggs are fertile.  I know my boys have been practicing but not sure who's eggs they are or if they belong to anyone of the prefered girls.  Find out after dark.  :D

That concentrate mixed with water in a sprayer is also great for feather lice and mites... I used it on my birds and coops and it worked great!

That small bottle is about $7 and lasts quite a while, or they have bigger bottles for $20....

Bet if they could talk, you'd get a tongue-lashing

I did... in peepings, lol...

I don't think that they are super bad. Realized ihad some of the borax bait. I pour Iit in a plastic mouse bait box and set it inside. Also brushed the floor clean in the spot i saw the most and sprayed it. Waiting for it to. Dry wjle chickens are roaming. I'll stack cinder blocks on top of the spray location to prevent chickens digging there for now. Back to it.

Thanks Liz. The ants and mice have been everywhere this year. Feels like every other day iam sspraying or trapping something. I am going to an Extension Office training on fire ants next week. Hope they have critter safe solution. :)

Good luck... we used to have ants bad, not so much anymore though... the rats on the other hand...... :barnie

Got a visit from one of our neighbors down the road the other day... he's got same issue... rats awful this year... :/

He was impressed by our birds though... high praise from him, he's been breeding games since he was 15, lol...

We need a proper winter though to knock down the bug population... this summer was awful, not looking forward to a repeat...
