Chick developing slowly; air cell too big -- can I help it?

Hi,

This is a question about a parakeet egg, actually, and I would ask a parakeet forum if I could find one, but I can't, and you all seem very experienced, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

This is day 21 of egg incubation, and the incubation period for parakeets is 17-22 days. I've candled it, and the air cell now seems to take up half the egg, and the chick is very, very small, but still moving pretty actively. The mother is losing interest in sitting on it, and I'm afraid that the egg may be too dried up for the chick to survive, even if I keep it warm myself. Does anyone have any ideas or advice? I'd meant to just let nature take its course, but this sweet little thing is fighting so hard to survive, and I want to help it if I can.

Thank you.
