Hello,
I am curious to find out if the chicks adorable distinct markings will stay once they feather out and grow. I have 2 Black australorps, 2 Silver laced wyandetts and 2 Ameracaunas... And they all have the prettiest markings!!

I'm not sure about all of them but my silver laced wyandottes lost their baby fuzz and markings and got new ones when their feathers came in. :)

Thank u so much for replying..
So u just kept an eye on it to know who was who as the changed? Or did u band their leg?

I was just looking on amazon. But I do have some narrow colored zip ties I may put on there loosely.

Too funny.... I too am a 1st time momma hen and also have 2 black Australorps, 2 Auracaunas, 2 silver laced wyandotte + 6 salmon faverolles. My chicks are 2 weeks old today. It has become increasingly difficult to differentiate the Australorp and wyandotte due to changing fuzz and feathers (both were black with white markings at birth). They are changing & growing so fast. Interested in the 'bands' that were referenced in this thread - where can I buy them ?

Have fun with your chicks !

Awesome. That is crazy we have some of the same.
There are several different ones on amazon. Just whatever ur preference is. I will look at my colored zip ties tomorrow and may use them for the time being. Till I know who will be who. The pic is 1 Silver and 1 australorp, if it comes thru.
