Duck won't use wing

One of the muscovy ducks I had rehabilitated from my despicable livestock dealer neighbor, a girl I named mohawk, disappeared a month ago. She had started following a stray drake from the neighbors around and I had a feeling she followed the drake back to his house and got trapped. I was heartbroken.

But a week ago I was out in the rain to feed everyone and I heard her familiar little coo behind me. She was limping up the driveway covered in mud. She came right to me and let me pick her up which isn't in her personality at all. She had a bath and a good meal and fell asleep on my lap. I checked her over really well and didn't see any signs of injury other than being really skinny and pale.

She is holding her left wing in a normal position but will not move it from there. She let me lift it gently to dry under it but if I try to extend it she squawks. If she tries to run from something she just falls over and she can't get in or out of the pool so I've been putting her in for a few minutes a day. She splashes with just her one wing and then I have to lift her out. Then she flaps just her one wing to dry. I have given her nutri-drench and some wet cat food to help perk her up, otherwise she's eating and drinking on her own. I just haven't done anything for her wing because I'm not sure what, if anything, I should do.

Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking it was sprained, maybe the neighbor tried to catch her and yanked her wing? But it's been a week and she won't move it even a little.

Serious muscle pulls can take weeks to heal. You might dab just a tiny bit of comfrey salve under the wing near the joint to try to ease it a bit, but I think mostly I'd offer her the best nutrition possible, rest, fresh water, supervised tub time, and I might take a fecal sample in to test for parasites...

When I got home from work her wing was drooping a little and a drake was harassing her. I put her in the pool with a different drake she brought back with her who is also not feeling well. She paddled around but let the wing rest in the water. After taking her out of the pool her wing was still a little droopy. I think the drake might have have hurt it worse.





Unfortunately about two hours after these pics were taken her friend with the wonky wing passed away.
