Start letting them out late in the day, so they are motivated to go in to roost. You can also call them for a little scratch in the coop last thing. Be ready to have your big long- handled fish net to bring in any that want to roost in the trees instead. Stay out with them for a few days, and be very careful about your dogs! A safer covered run will be a VERY good project very soon too. Mary
Yes! They can free range supervised at the end of the day.
I usually start about an hour before night fall. They will all head back to the coop to go too bed!
If your worried? Try it during the day and then herd them back to the coop! No chasing! Use a tasty treat and your usual call!
