Isa Brown confusion

We bought some Isa Browns from a farmer who doesn't take the best care of his birds. But he's well-known for selling lots of birds

We have one problem after another. We have had vent gleet. Which in all our years of doing chickens we have never even heard of. And have had absolutely no luck in getting rid of it. I just want the stupid birds dead at this point.

And they are mean birds. Out of the blue one just started getting beat up on. To the point of almost death

Another just ended up dead the other day and are coop

Unlike our chickens in the past we have easily been able to introduce new chickens. But with these no matter what we do they just attack the new chickens

I heard that these chickens are a hybrid. If that is true maybe that's why were having issues and it's not the farmer after all

Either way I think I'm just going to get a bunch of birds from hatchery and get rid of these. But for now we're getting eggs and I don't want to just throw out the money

Any idea of some chickens I should get. That will be nice to other chickens and give us good egg production

Australorps are great producers and very gentle. They are so gentle, they usually end up at the bottom of the pecking order in mixed flocks. Barred Rocks are great layers, but are very active foragers, and need to be kept occupied. They aren't too bossy, but if they get bored, they do get grumpy.
Black sexlinks are a good choice, as well.
My favorite are Easter Eggers though. Mine lay just a well as the Rocks and Australorps. And I love how much variety there is.
You ISA Brown problems are most likely related to the source. Overcrowded birds develop behavioral issues that can be nearly impossible to eliminate. In general, they are not more aggressive than other breeds.

Yes his birds hardly have room to move. 100's of cages there. Ugh

I don't like barred rocks. Used to have americanas. Are Easter eggers like them?

99% of birds that are sold as Ameraucana are actually Easter Eggers. Ameraucana are always sold with a color/variety specified. If no variety or color is specified at purchase, it's an Easter Egger.

Cool. Ok. Well now I know what I'm gonna get most likely.

What about rhode islands?

Hatchery Rhode Island Reds are unpredictable when it comes to temperament. They tend to be top of the order birds.
