Hi, I've got 11 eggs in a incubator.2 have hatched. Yay! I'm new to this and the manual with the incubator is hard to understand. How long can I leave the chicks in there for? They seem happy enough. I just want to keep them as warm as possible. I also have another chook that has hatched 9 chicks a few days ago. Could I put the new hatchling with the others or is this a bad idea! Thanks.

You can leave the chicks in the incubator for about 24 hours max. Then they need to be in a warm brooder with food and water.
I have successfully integrated chicks that are 3 weeks apart. I'd make sure the chick is a couple days old and knows how to eat and drink before integrating her with older chicks. If there seems to be any signs of squabbling or picking, or if any blood is drawn, immediately remove the younger chick.

I agree with beetandsteet regarding the integration of the chicks. When they are so young, problems are usually minimal. However, wait until the chicks are fluffed out and able to walk correctly. They tend to fumble around quite a bit when they're in their "newborn" stage. However, you can leave chicks in the incubator for up to three days. The yolk absorbed before hatching provides sufficient nourishment for this time period. This is the reason hatcheries ship out baby poultry with relative success.
