I have a broody silkie (imagine that) I got a couple of fertile cream legbar eggs for her to sit on.

I use alfalfa for bedding. We are thirteen days into the sitting and I wondered

how do I change the nesting material without her freaking out?

I pick out the poop every morning but should I worry about it

or just let it be until chicks hatch??

That same coop has two other silkies in it. Once the chicks hatch will they bother them??

dottie is pretty rambunktious and will look after them but can only do so much.

Is your hen confined to the nest box all the time? I'm wondering because you mention cleaning out the droppings daily. My broodies leave the nest to relieve themselves, eat and drink water daily. This is a perfect time to change the bedding in the box, when the hen leaves the nest for a few minutes.

there are two other silkies in the coop/run. They are the one's doing what chickens do and pooping everywhere.
It has been almost 30 days but I wanted to wait until today when I pick up a chick for her to mother.
