After looking on here I finally made my own feeders out of 3" pvc pipe.

And I also made a little adjustment to help save some feed. Here's the video link:

Oh, and about what is the distance from the bottom of the lip of the opening to the bottom (actual, not blue cut out pice) of the feeder? I don't want to do it and find the opening is too tall for my chickens to reach! Thanks again for showing us your design!

This is the "blueprint" I used. The piece of pipe between the "Y" and bottom cap is 6".
400

Also what I did too was screw the cap into the floorboard and then mounted the feeder into it. After that I used a 1.25" screw in the top of the feeder to help hold it upright into the wall. I decided not to glue the parts together so that in the future if needed I could dismantle them in case some tweaks were needed. I also did not add the 3" pipe to the feed opening as I thought it too deep for them to reach but I will closely monitor it the next few days to see if that is needed. Hope this helps!

Really a clever fix. I've been trying to figure out how do something similar, but basically to mirror the 45 degree angle of the feeder access to "push" the feed towards the chicken access and limit the amount of feed that would be sitting on top of the blue piece that you made, at the back of the unit. I haven't come up with a good solution yet, short of trial and error cut and trim, and screwing it into place, but that cup or so of feed that would sit back there just annoys the bajeezus out of me...

Great fix though. May just end up stealing it and dealing with my neurosis. LOL

Have you thought about maybe adding a wooden triangular block? (similar to a door stop) I think if you put one on top of where I have my blue blocker then another blocker on top of that it might give you the angle and blockage you're looking for. I can try to sketch up the idea if you need more clarification.

no glue also helps for semi annual cleaning

blue stopper takes away the need for the bottom cap,,,,,then I saw you screwed the cap to the floor to hold the feeder to the wall

Nice mod with the blue baffle!!!! I can see where a sloped back piece would help direct the feed forward towards the opening, but cutting a piece to fit snuggly at an angle inside the pipe and prevent feed from leaking behind it is kind of problematical for me...maybe cut it "close" and glob on the silicone caulking...

Thought about it, but what was giving me the OCD issues is what intheswamp mentions, getting that snug fit. Could always silicone it, but then to take it apart to clean it you'll have a fixed piece.

Again, my OCD is the issue, not the ideas or design.
