I presently live in Pa. where they don't allow chickens. I have my home for sale and will be relocating to Norfolk,Va.to be closer to my daughter and granddaughter. I plan to have the 6 hens they allow. I have 2 cats and am retired. I had chickens as a child and missed the chance to have them where I now live. They passed the law before I could build a coop.I am busy knitting socks and I do beaded jewelry and beaded flowers.
As soon as I move I will have a coop built and put in for the permit.

Greetings from Kansas, ArlineJ, and :welcome! Great to have you aboard. Glad you are moving to a place that allows a person to have a few hens. If you are new to chicken keeping please stop by the Learning Center here https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center It is loaded with great information about all aspects of chicken keeping. Also, if you'd like to chat with local chicken folks, be sure and find your state thread in this link https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you
And if you are still deciding on a coop design/style, visit the coops section here https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops
Best wishes on your move and thanks for joining BYC!
