My hen is losing feathers and i thought she was too young to molt. A few weeks ago she had clear\white poo, was drinking a ton of water and losing feathers.
She was treated with corid and for worms. Poo has been normal for a few weeks now and feather loss stopped. I thought all was well again. The last few days feather loss started again. Everytime she flaps her wings small feathers come out along with some tail feathers. She is an ameracauna with a pretty beard but is starting to look very scruffy. My Wyandotte is also losing feathers, not as many though. They are the same age. Both have stopped laying eggs. My RIR is not losing feathers and is still giving me 6 eggs a week. Could this be molt? They were born mid March and i heard pullets that go through a full spring can have a molt the first year? If not molt what else?

Mine were hatched in July. In October the coop and run was full of feathers. All of them were fine. No parasites internal or external. It was like they all decided at once that they needed a new coat. They never had any noticeable bare spots like in some pictures. Being a first time long term chicken mom I had heard of molt and just thought it was normal. So I have no idea why my young pullets did that if they weren't old enough.

I really don't think they are ill. Poop looks normal, eating/drinking normal, no mites that i can see.
I gave them scrambled eggs this morning to increase their protein uptake.

That's a typical juvenile molt at bout 3-4 months old.

Yeah, my wyandotte and ameracauna had a mini molt at 12 weeks. But not the rhodie. They must be bred for minimal molting.
