Everywhere, all at once
My Indian Runner/Pekin crosses are now almost 8 weeks old. Mom (Runner) is fawn and white - dad is white (of course) - but the ducklings are gray (blue?) and white. I know Pekin crosses can show some unexpected colors...will these guys stay this color?

I can't say why they are blue, I'm sure it's some hidden gene in the Pekin. I doubt they will change... They are beautiful!

Gorgeous ducks love their blue feathers.

LOL!! They do wear hats, don't they? Some have berets, some are wearing bombers.

I've been trying to identify ducks vs drakes and read that for Runners, the girls are the loud ones. There are at least a few loud ones in that group! The Muscovies give them a look like they're thinking "what in the world??"

Yep girls Runners etc are very loud I have 7 Runner females and 2 Buff females my Muscovy's pretty much ignore them. But it's funny how different the Muscovy and other domestics are. My Muscovy's are so laid back especially this time of year barely move unless it's to eat or for treats. The Runners and Buffs are on the go most of the time. And eggs gosh I have never gotten duck eggs in this time of year that's a treat too.

Your Runners and Buffs are laying? I'm envious...I know I'll get plenty of eggs come spring, but duck eggs are my hands-down favorite. I keep hoping the Runner mama will start laying again, but I've yet to see anything...even a few duck eggs would be nice...

They actually started laying when they were 4 months old so they have been laying 4 months and haven't gone a day with out at least 5 most days 6 eggs a few times all 7 at once. I keep thinking they will slow down soon. You Runner should start back laying soon if your Pekin is mating with her. That is usually what starts my girls back after they have hatched ducklings. I am talking Muscovy here since I haven't had any of my youngins hatch anything. Maybe it's not the same for these R/B's this is all new to me. Only ever had scovy's.
