I found My 10 month old white Pekin duck sitting in a shallow hole (about an inch deep) she was covered in mud I feed like normal thinking she was resting but she didn't get up I went to see what was up and she was kinda standing one leg straight one on the ground I picked her up and her toes were all folded up I'm not sure how long she was stuck but I think it was quite a while I took her inside and she cuddled me and I put her in the bath tub (dry) with food and water. What should I do and what do you think caused this?

Her mate was attacked by a dog at about 4 months old and his leg was damaged pretty bad but he's fine now just a limp

So they free range? No fence around them during the day?

If she was covered in mud, something was rolling her around in it. She may have internal injuries.

You need to keep them both in a safe place till you figure it out. Could have been a dog.

I would get her into a tub of lukewarm water - let her float and clean off. Look for puncture wounds around the vent and under the wing - feel along her neck, make sure she doesn't have neck injury.

What is the weather? Is it below freezing?

Weather was in the low 60 and they were in the hole was in the coop they didn't free range today I was at school i really don't know how she got injured

There is a top on the pen and there are a few other ducks some chickens and two Guineas in there as well

The chickens scratched the hole to sun bathe in and the duck usually go in there as well
