New to site

Hello all I'm new to BYC. I'm full of questions. I'm in Phoenix Arizona and I have 8 chicken that have atop laying for about 1 month now . Is this common ? Do chickens stop laying in the winter- even Phoenix winter"lol"

Hello, and welcome to BYC! Since I am near to where you are, I guess that I could answer your question for about chicken egg laying in this area. You didn't mention what breed of hens that you have. Some breeds of chickens will slow down in the winters here, or during or after molting.

Welcome to BYC from Pennsylvania! It's totally normal for your ladies to take a winter break. They're laying is directly related the the amount of daylight hours. As the days get longer they'll start to pick it up again. From my 20 or so laying hens, I've been lucky over the past month or two to get 1 egg a day and sometimes none at all! Good luck!

Welcome to BYC @meetta ! Its great that you have joined us! Please make yourself at home on BYC, were you can talk about your feathered friends for hours on end
