So my friend, Tabatha just placed an order for 12 Polish chicks from My Pet Chicken to be shipped the week of May 8th. I am quite excited about this, but I told her I may have to move in with her until my husband cools down, lol. We are going to divide the chicks up between us (6 each). I ordered pullets only since I do not want roos. Now the wait..... Why am I waiting until May.... I have my yearly vacation the last week of April and didn't want to have chicks to worry about while I am gone. I have 10 adult hens that my neighbor can feed, water, and gather eggs from, but I didn't want him to have to deal with little ones. I am really curious to see what different Polish we will get. I hope to get at least a few "laced" ones. Not sure how we will know which ones they would be when we get the chicks, so if anyone knows, please tell me....

How exciting!
The different color varieties have different chick down patterns - it will help you to familiarize yourself with them between now and when the chicks arrive so you can sort them out when they come. This can be accomplished by googling the various color types and viewing images of adults and chicks so you start to recognize even the most subtle differences in the down patterns. Well planned on considering all the factors before timing their arrival - many folks don't stop and think about things like that and it can make the arrival a stressful thing rather than the exciting and fun time it should be.

Thanks!!!! I will do that. Tabatha and I are both very excited about these babies. I really cannot wait until they get here. And I have decided to just tell my husband that they are my birthday present to myself, LOL. There is a good chance they will arrive on my birthday!

2 months from now I should be getting my new babies!!!! Other then not wanting my vacation to go by too fast I cannot wait for them to get here!!! Still need to build a temporary coop for them to grow up in once they are out of the brooder and before they are big enough to move in with the big girls. Of course I have considered a new permanent coop that I can then house some bantams in after the Polish girls are in with the others!!!
