I buy from a person that makes their own, he sells eggs free range, the mash has I think 3% more protein then the commercially sold stuff and they do well on it, I put it o
in a feeder, they stand on it and the lid pops up, it was amazing how much went to the wild birds before I bought the feeder. stops mice and rats too.

I some what grind and mix my own feed and make the protein what I want.

Yea those type feeders are nice, but with 67 chicken pens and having over 1200 chickens at one time----it would have broke me to buy all of those feeders I needed---and for sure would have taken all my time for a while to build then. I just got some cats---they some-what keep the mice under control and get some birds as extra's!.
