So I've had my chickens not quite a year yet. Well now that they are older they have been crossing the side road to go to the neighbors. Any suggestions how to keep them in without having to stop free ranging?? Looked at some fencing but not sure what we should use without. Reading the bank.

Would appreciate any suggestions. Need to do soon. I promised the neighbor.

Thank you!!!!

You could make a chicken tractor.

This one cost under $200

I hate to coop them up if I can come up with a solution. We have about an acre where they can roam. I'm not quite sure how large the area is where they sneak across the road. I will have to measure tomorrow. It's not the whole length of the yard. But then again I guess if we put some kind of barrier they will find another way across. Ugh

Physical barriers are the only thing I've found that will keep chickens from doing what they want to do. Now that they know what's over at the neighbors' place, and it's obviously attractive to them, they'll keep going until you physically prevent them from going there.

We've had to fence the accessible landscape beds at our place.

We'll fence the garden and the berry bushes.

Trying to figure out what we're going to do about the wildflower bed. It may already be a goner.

I can still foresee putting up a fence around a half acre of land simply because we are tired of fencing other stuff off from the chickens. We enjoy our flock, but there's a limit to the destruction we'll accommodate. If they manage to clear the fence to the backyard where the fire pit area is, then I think we're going to put up that fence.

Sorry if that's a dumb question. We have a underground dog fence and I know of the fences you see in horse pastures. But what do you use on chickens?

Are you sure there happy? Only time mine leave to the neighbors is when I have made them made. You might ask one tomorrow.

Haha very funny. My darn chickens are so spoiled. Even the dogs are good to them. They get treats every day. I throw out boss every morning when I let them out of the coop. Several of them actually respond to their names. When they sneak over I can call the two roosters and one of my Easter egger hens by name and they usually come running back. The others take a bit of coaxing.
