Using Slabs

Hi Everyone,

I have an L shape concrete slab path in my garden and was thinking of running the coop and run timbers flush against the slabs as a means of protection from anything wanting to dig under and in to the coop. The other 2 sides are not and I would have add slabs which is not a problem. The concreate path runs in front of the geeen house and the shed. Would this be adequate for keeping predators out

If you don't want to spend the money to run concrete all the way around your run, you can do a fence skirt to keep predators from digging under. Just put fence down on the ground around the bottom of your run and bury it then seed grass on top of that. It should be 18 to 24" wide.

Not sure what you mean by this?

But yes, stone slabs or any hard surface running along your run or coop is sufficient to stop predators from burrowing underneath it, as long as the surface is 40-50 cm wide. (~20 inch)
 
I noticed you are using Pallets. How is that working out?
I am gonna be building a coop, and am still not sure what methods I'll use. Been leaning towards pallets....
 
Pallets have pros and cons. Free and pretty solid but depending on size joining them together and making it solid is a real pain at the moment. My base is all pallets but walls will have to be studded otherwise it will be to heavy.
 
The picture you see above is no longer the size as I was want at least 10 birds and that won't hold 10 birds. So have made it what you see above x2 joined together.
