Might be a bit overkill for 6 hens, but I'm sure they'll work. Had the buckets. Needed a simple nesting solution. Already had the shelf. I'm thinking it'll do the trick...

It should. Have you braced them to keep them from rolling? When I used a bucket as a nest, I drilled a pilot hole to get the screw started, then used a fender washer on a screw to keep the bucket stable. The way yours are set up I don’t know if you need to or not, but you might want to keep that in the back of your mind.

Yeah, they're solid. The two screws hold it TIGHT. They kind of flatten what is being tightened. They're not rolling/moving...
