"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Sorry can’t help out.

Just checking in from Prairieville. My 11 hens did well through the cold weather- water bucket froze.. I had one that had a lash egg and was sick for 2weeks- she is limping now but much much better. Have to separate her, the other chickens are fricking monsters at attacking her.

Out of the 11, four have started laying eggs. All 11 are around 6months.

I am pleased that my newly built coop/run with tarp roof over run is still holding up. The wooden feeder you gave me is still working out great @jus10inla!! Thanks again!

I miss my sussex & russian orloffs. (This is kinda stuff only in Louisiana) but a damn alligator went in the coop and had a field day. For those who dont know; i have a place on the atchafalaya . Used to have a coop at the house/ camp there and one here in Central. I am at both places just about every 3 days . Everything used to be 100% onnthe river but over the last 5-10 yrs as the coop went down i had to finaly migrate everything here. It was built back in the 80s. So built to last. But flooding and predators took its toll finaly.

It's been a while since I've been on this thread but I have some Silkie chicks available if anyone is interested! I'm located in Lacombe. 😊 Let me know if you want these cuties!

Oh ma ga! Don’t tempt me like that!! They are adorable!
I wish I had a separate section for bantams. I know they can live with the bigs and I’ve actually had some in the past but if I got anymore then I’d like em separate.

I personally have everything from Sebrights, mille fleur d'uccles, cochin bantams with Jubilee Orpingtons, deleware, leg bars, black marans and black copper marans, Ameraucauna , sussex, leghorns ,tiny spangled old english bantams, easter eggers and andalusians and egyptian fayoumi

I have a giant homebrew rooster ( Delaware orpinton/sussex cross?)

Bigger than every other rooster, deleware, jubilee, sebright, maran and splash Ameraucauna roosters..
I've had only one issue and we are not sure if it was a rooster or horse caused death..one of my actual pet bantam hens...I believe she was actually struct by a horse stomping flies..but ghe horse and the rooster were both within 6 inches so..unknown..

But we are going on 3 years with a mixed flock
