The roos are mainly silver barred, but occasionally can be golden barred. My baby boy Orpington, Barred Rock is going to be black barred. He's at least two, and a half weeks old now. I'll post photos as soon as I take some more.

I get those too. I've kept them for a while before they sold. I can tell you from mine, one roo looked just like the hen color, the yellowish ones grew muddy yellow feathers with some black spots on some feathers, and the white or yellow faces had transition color. That is the heads were mostly white with thin black stripes and transitioned towards the tail to mostly black with thin white stripes. I haven't gotten any with black and yellow or white and yellow barred pattern. So far the yellow ones have been females. The black ones have been either sex. I expect my next batch to hatch later this week.View attachment 1478142 View attachment 1478154 I hatched these Buff Orpington+Barred Rock cross chicks. There is one pure Orpington chick in the bunch. The little one with the dot on it's head was shrink wrapped in it's egg, so I rescued him.

I get the BO RIR crosses. You'll find they tend to look like buffs with redish feathers. If lighting is bad you may not be able to tell them apart from the BO.Updates on chick growth.View attachment 1484838My little rooster.View attachment 1484839The Girls.View attachment 1484840 View attachment 1484842 View attachment 1484844 View attachment 1484845Last girl isn't a Barred Rock cross.
