central Ohio
I am feeling really down, so I thought I'd vent. Our schools are falling apart, and the school district is desparate for money. Two levys on the ballot; one failed by eight votes. They miscounted the first time or something and we thought it won by two. Now the school board is saying they will make more cuts, including our marching band, the pride of our community. I just spent 14 hours straight yesterday working on a proposal for a prospective client. Went to the bid opening and we just can't afford to lowball bid the way some companies. do that were at the opening. Everywhere you go in central Ohio anymore you see businesses are going belly up, shopping centers are empty, houses for sale or foreclosed. It is so depressing. Does ANYONE see any signs of life in the economy???

*At last count, we had over a thousand foreclosures-- and the banks are trying to hustle the cases thro the courts before someone trys to put a stop to them-- so, no light here I'm sorry to say. . . .

We just sold our house. It took 10 months and we lost over 100,000 dollars. I am not a happy camper! Thank God we have eggs to eat!

No I don't think things look good anywhere. Things appear fairly steady around here, but this might not last much longer. I think we usually feel it later here. When I go grocery shopping, I've noticed there are less people out shopping. I also heard there is a city in California that has declared bankruptcy.

Instead of feeling sad, try to do something productive. In my opinion, the best thing you can do is start a garden. It will give you hope and supplement your pantry at the same time.

Its bad here too.
We've had businesses that have been in this county for 30-40 years close their doors.

The coporation I work for has been running a skeleton crew since before Christmas, customer service is suffering so we are getting even less business, and they are demoting me as of tomorrow and cutting my pay by $2 an hour, and cutting my hours by 5 a week.

I've been in this industry for over 20 years and I've never seen it this bad.

I need to find a 2nd job, but nobody is hiring.

I don't know what we're goning to do.

Nobodys doing well anywhere right now. But economy goes up and down over time so just try to make the best of it. I agree, the best thing to do now is to try to start a garden and try to be more self sufficient and ride it out. My grandpa lived though the great depression and before he died, he said you just gotta move on because you can only dwell so much if you want change.

For sure. Last time Boeing had a big big lay off in elementary school, I remember half the kids in our school couldn't afford lunch...and the school brown bagged a peanut butter sandwich for those students. I'd have to say about 30% of the kids at our school at that time had a parent that depends on Boeing for their primary income...

Yep. I make $10 an hour at my petshop job...Too bad I haven't worked for the past two weeks. The only people working are the managers and maybe one or two more people...

I went to both local malls yesterday and noone's hiring. It's really bad.
