For some reason what I wrote disappeared so i'm trying this again. Maybe I hit send or something. who knows. DH thinks I'm suppose to be able to to a hundred things at once. Anyway. I have 2 girls like yours in the third picture down except mine are lighter in shade. One is lighter than the other and the darker one lays a blue egg. They are sisters with the same parents and hatched the same day. I know they aren't ameracauna's. I thought all of mine where till I was directed to a site that shows the approved colors for them. I have a solid white one that has all the qualifications for ameracauna but I call all mine EE's to avoid any confusion. I an looking for an Ameracauna roo though. I want to hopefully get more blue egg layers. I have the same plan as somebody else on here. I plan to hatch only the blue eggs in hopes of getting more blue egg layers. I only want a few. When I sell my cartons of eggs i'd like to have an even number of colors in them. Most of te people around here don't even know there are chickens that lay colored eggs.

Also in case this didn't make it out too. Somebody PM'd me with an offer of an ameracauna or an EE and they live near Memphis. I PM'd you back and I ended up PM'ing myself. I don't know how I did it but I did, so that person didn't get my message. So please if you read this PM me again because I can't find the other one. Maybe it was an offer on a thread. I can't really remember. But I am interested and please contact me again.

I've not seen that offered for sale are they called by some other name? The chick was clear yellow and began to sport white wing tips and tail early. Later I saw red show up. Got any links for photos or places that sell them. Big brown eggs are what they lay

Red stars, golden comets, and red sex-links.

Are they also sometimes referred to as Production Reds? Are the roosters a different color as chicks? As adults? What colors are they? Do they throw true or are they hybrid?

Somebody told me my girl is a produciton red. And she is the only one I have and would love to have about 3 more just like her. I've seen where people call them different things or maybe there are some that just look alot alike. I am by far no pro in chicken breeds. She is great though, although she is a dominant hen and is persistant in showing the others that she is, she isn't normally mean. She will also protect the other hens if I am mesing around with one she will come up and peck me. I just do what I always do to any of them that try to show me they are boss is I grab them by their neck and hold themm down to the ground a few minutes and get loud and sound really mean. They will avoid me and never do what ever it was they did to get in trouble. They know I'm the dominant hen when i'm in the coop. Plus, i'm the one that hands out the treats. Be bad and no treats.

I have no idea what breed they are except for the Lion Head ones. The others are mostly white with colored spots. Some have different colors and some have just one. There is one that is black with what appears to be tiny white spots. Kinda like a king snake does. One is white with red eyes and another is white with a smoky color around his ears and eyes and he has dark eyes and the other buck is like a cinnamon color. Only the two white ones are big rabbits. The others are about the size of a wild rabbit. There are 2 that we know are pregnant but the other 2 with the white buck don't appear to be getting fat at all. We are all knew to the rabbit breeding thing so we could use any and all advice anybody has.

We took the buck out of the pen that has the 2 for sure pregnant does in it. We heard the buck will kill the babies. We don't know if a doe will kill another doe's babies or not though. That would be very useful information to know and soon. They should be giving birth in about a week.

At first I thought your red girl is a NHR, but there is no black in her tail. I have NHR, and she is a good layer, at least 5 eggs a week, easy going and talkative. My second NHR was going broody at about 8 months and would growl at me when I gathered her egg. She apparently flew into the coop wall one night, found her dead in the morning. Anyway, New Hampshire Reds are a standard breed, readily available. As with most bird, hatchery birds are primarily unitarian, but that is fine for me. Sex links will not necessarily breed true, where as NHR will.

Production reds are normally Rhode Island Reds(RIR) that have been breed specifically for laying and pretty much ignoring the standard. Most RIR that you get from hatcheries are production reds. A real RIR is a dark mohagony red.

A sex-link is a hybird. In the case of your girl, her parents would have been a red rooster(new hamshire or RIR) mated to a white hen(most cases will be White Rocks). The males are white or mostly white at hatch and grow up to be mostly white with some red across their backs or on the neck. The hens are shades of red with the whitish under side.

Great layers and hearty birds, but they will not breed true.

Matt

Any idea what this is?
