Muggs, you really need to build a bator like we have. I think you would have a much better hatch rate. We have about 85-95% hatch rate with ours.

! DH wants turkeys. TURKEYS!!! I am so out of my element with turkeys! My dad had a Tom that used to chase us around his farm. It has haunted my nightmares!

Yes! You need turkeys!!! They are sooo sweet

Christine...post a pic of your incubator. It's worth drooling over. Craig will find this on his to-do list before long! (Ahem...once I get those plans from you!

Okay, I'm turkey abbreviation illiterate! What's a BBW? Is there a docile breed of turkey? I would consider anything that is entertaining...I feel I've come this far with chickens!

I'm not sold on turkeys yet. I think there should be a progression of poultry. Chickens seem to be the "gateway" to others, so let's go in order. Chickens, then ducks, then geese, on to guineas, then turkeys, then pheasants, (insert an indoor bird or two here), then revert back to quail/partridge/doves/pigeons, then progress to peafowl, swans, then emus, then lastly (for the completely crazy addict)...ostriches!

I must say, I wouldn't mind attempting an ostrich omelet! Just to say I have!

Your comment leads me to wonder where would one acquire an ostrich egg?

I lost track of time on how many days it has been since we could eat our eggs....the entire flock has been on corid and antibiotics. I think I'm past the 3 week mark. I'm kicking myself in the tookas because we've been throwing away our eggs. Now I wish I had at least saved the pretty ones for those crafts!

This weekend I am trying my hand at some....headed to Michael's craft store to stock up!
