Well I thought that I would start a thread about everyone getting their new Bators, plus experience from folks that already have one (two, five, 25..lol)

I unpacked mine day before yesterday. I set it up in my office (home office) and allowed the bator to get to temp. Mine was setting around 100 so I lowered the temp just a hair. I wanted to see how the RH was, so I went to petsmart and got a digital Hygro/thermometer. I did NOT get the auto turner with mine. I noticed that when I keep it in the upright position, the temp is steady at 99.5 degrees at 45%RH. But if I tilt forward or backwards, The temp goes all over the place. The glass thermometer doesn't budge, but that digital setup goes all over the place.

It is the Fluker's All New Digital Display.
 
I just finished up a hatch in my new one - of all the eggs that hatched, I got two bantams, and four LF out of 9 - one pipped then died, the other two never budged so they may have been duds. Although it doesn't hold as many eggs as the Genesis, I liek it better. I never touched the temperature, just let it go at the facotyr setting and it stayed at 99.5. I took the hygrometer out on lockdown and just added water to both wells. All in all, I had a very good hatch considering I stink at it
 
I have 24 eggs in mine on day 9. This is my first hatch since moving from a colder climate and I have had to adjust the temp a bit and it is now holding steady at 100* and my humidity is perfect at 40-45.

I am having the same temp problem. When I unpacked mine it was reading 101 so I turned it down a tad. I left it to stabilize for a few days as well.

I have a spot check in a water wiggler and a nice hygrometer/digital thermometer mounted on the back wall of the bator and as the bator turns back and forth the temp jumps all over the place. I think it corresponds with the vent hole because if I turn the vent hole down it does not fluctuate as badly but I would like to know what people think about the thermometer in the water wiggler fluctuating so much? I have one in my styrofoam hovabator and it might fluctuate from 99.5 to 99.7 then back to 99.5. I am kind of frustrated because I bought this bator because it was a nice one to have but I am having some trouble getting it to settle down....
 
I bought the octagon 20 EX. Love it! I have not had to adjust the temperature at all. Humidity stays perfect until lockdown and then I have to put some extra sponges and things in there to increase it where I want it even with the humidity pump.
 
The spot check is always going to go a little nuts because it's taking readings so often and it's so sensitive. A water wiggler will have water of slightly different temperature gradations, so when the incubator is turned the water swirls and a slightly lower or higher temp hits the sensor. You have to watch it for a couple of minutes and mentally average out the temperature.

I have the ECO and love it. 14 of 18 shipped eggs are on day 9 and candling great. I have huge temperature swings in my house because we use pellet heat and don't turn it on until it gets pretty cold - so it can easily go from 58-72 from afternoon to evening. With the temperature gauge set to about 1:00 it holds at 99.5 at the very coldest to 100.2 at the very hottest. That's far better than I could ever have hoped, and the eggs seem pretty happy too!

Remember that the temps will change depending on where you have it too. Also, it changes again when you add eggs. I always add my eggs, wait 8 hours and then make adjustments. Sometimes it's not for a couple days that I get it steady. I also live in a very dry climate, so I need to add water twice a day.
 
I love my OctagonAdvanceEx(es)! (Yes, plural. 3 of 'em.)

Just finishing a hatch of 9 shipped bantam Barnevelder eggs; 5 have hatched, but over 4 days. That's slightly unusual, stretching out over so many days.... I thought they were duds, at first.

Two more are full of eggs, due to hatch 11/26.

I've now had "first" incubation/hatches in each of them, and the eggs in all three are NOW "better" than those the first batches in the other two.... those were, unfortunately, kinda old shipped eggs - the eggs arrived before the incubators did!
 
I just got my OctagonAdvanceEx last week. I have not used it yet but one thing that I think they could improve on is the instructions on putting it together. I am a total newbie to incubators and it took me a while to figure out what piece went where during assembly. I think pictures/diagrams would help. I did figure it out and it did not take me all that long but it was a bit confusing.
