I'm glad to see your response Magdelaine. That's so odd to get two completely different stories from the guy. Maybe my cousin called before he got rid of the extras that were causing chaos and he didn't want a visitor to see the disaster?? I am going to my cousin's in July (she lives in Tehachapi which is next door to Stallion Springs - BTW she, as well as her entire family, has deep roots in Inyokern!). Anyway, when I go up there in July, I'll give him a call and see what story I get.

One more comment, NEW Mexico sounds much better than Mexico, I was thinking how in the heck to the day olds live through the wait at customs?
 
Hmmm, a breeder that lives in California but runs a hatchery in New Mexico? That's a heck of a commute! Grandpa always said; "If you hear hoof beats, think horses, not zebras." I know Privett is located in NM. so I wouldn't say he's lying. Just not being all that forthcoming. With that extensive list of available birds and magdelaine's description of what was at his place in Stallion Springs, sounds like a drop-shipper to me. Not necessarily a bad thing, I just expect people to be on the level with me.

I purchased from signature Poultry & Game Bird company and they were wonderful , great people, great service
ordered 100 Rhode island chicks , they arrived healthy and all alive.
So I don't know where you get your information from but I think spreading rumors about
hatcheries is VERY EVIL and it shows the kind of person you are.
Why don't you be brave enough to call them and ask your questions ,before you just blow your mouth off.
The lady that answered the phone was great. They are a very hard working family that you owe respect too.

I called the CL ad back in August about Japanese bantams and that I wanted to see the birds before ordering, he said they're in NM and totally ignored my question about seeing birds.. He hung up very fast too. I didn't see anyone in this thread "blowing their mouth off" . . . The OP asked for opinions on Signature Poultry and the OP got them. I'm not comfortable ordering from them, and the minimum number of chicks is too high IMO. I told him I was only interested in 3 or 4 chicks and he strongly stated "nope 25 chicks minimum" .. I'd be more comfortable with a local hatchery so I can see what the birds look like and pick what I like.
Luckily after that I found someone local who gave me 2 japanese bantam chicks and they turned out to be a boy and a girl. :]
 
Signature poultry was using a pic of one of my Barnevelders on their website awhile back. I asked them to remove the photo and they did with an apology. I appreciate that they removed my photo promptly and politely. I don't mind people borrowing my photos for "reference" but not for marketing poultry for sale that are most likely not even related to my birds.
