turkey tractor design. need help!

Looking for simple designs for turkey tractors. Just trying to build a simple one for 7 turkeys that can be moved by truck/tractor come spring. ANY designs/ideas are appreciated. lemme know what you got!? Thanks!

My suggestion would be check out the chicken tractors on the coop pages and supersize it.

I will be making a Hoop house using cattle panels. For me, this seems to be one of the more simple designs. Since the cattle panels squares are quite large, you would need to cover it with chicken wire (and a tarp over the top--at least on one end). I also plan on using this as a green house this spring.

I'm getting the panels sometime next week, and will soon begin construction.

I don't have a good photo of the actual tractor my turkeys are in but it's the same design as this one:









The basic difference between the chicken and turkey tractors is the turkey model has roosts with the bars further apart and the nest box is larger. It's a community type box, one big open box big enough for them to get in, not so big the tom can easily get in with them to annoy them.

At present I have six Midget White hens and one tom in it. It's complete in itself in that it has two tube feeders, a hanging waterer, roosts, and nest box.

I move it every day using a hand truck to lift the front then pulling it. If I were to build it again I'd drill axle holes through the 4x4s and put in wheels.

It's the apron wire you see at the bottom that makes it work. So long as the wire is intact I've never had a predator get in over the four years I've been using this design.

The hoops are two 16ft cattle panels. The sledge runners are two 10 foot 4x4s and the front and back cross members are two 10 foot 2x4s.

This is how I attach the 1x4 framing boards to the cattle panels:



That one wasn't one of my neatest jobs, but you see how it works. The wire is 14 gauge electric fence wire.

Liken this one, AT. Is the Tarp you have over the top the only thing that is used as a roof or does it have a metal roof too?

The hardware cloth you see covering the cattle panel at the bottom goes all the way over the top. I have no lack of coon around here so I make sure they have no easy entrance.

Flock Master. I am liking the design for the turkey tractor. Any way you could draw it out and post it ? How many turkeys live comfortably in the tractor ? Thanks springchicken66
