Went out to the coop today and my rooster was acting strange
9 mo old, barnevelder rooster
feeding purina layena

he's holding his head to the left and looking straight up. He can move it down to look at me, but then it goes up and back again. Acting sluggish.
this just started today. He is in with all hens, no other roos in the pen. No change in diet or activity prior to today. My first thought was wry neck, but it looks like that pulls their neck down, not up and to the side.

Any suggestions other than seperate, ensure he drinks water etc?

Vitamin def. perhaps?

It does not look like Marek's so rule that one out.

Vit-a-sol might help him out. Time is the critical stage right now.

I was thinking "stargazers', but again, this usually strikes chicks not adults
Vit B vit E deficiency. I sent DH out to get polyvisol (no iron)
also gave 1 mg prednisone in case its a neuro issue
as you can see, comb is good color, right eye is bright and perky, but left eye squinty. Feathers bright with good shine.
this hit very suddenly today.

any chance this is from too much calcium since he has been eating layer with the hens

ok, so the stores around here don't have the polyvisol without iron (DH went to 4 stores, sweet man)
so, I mixed up a gal of chick vit supplement, forced a bulb syringe full in him and a capsule of Vit E.
