This thread just gave me all sorts of new ideas for fishing next year! If its not a fish I want to eat but is legal to keep...cluck cluck goes the chicken!

I know this post is from a few years ago but I was wondering about the same thing. I have a crawfish/guppy trap and a pond close to my house and have given my chooks the guppies in a little bowl to see if they would like to try and catch them and they loved them. I have only done it a handful of times but was thinking of setting up one of my empty fish tanks from the garage to keep the extras since I usually only give them 5-10 tiny guppies at a time (I have 8 chickens). They seemed to like them so much, it gave them a lot of entertainment, and I'm sure the boost of protein and small amount of fats is good for them. Is it bad for me to have given them live freshwater guppies? I don't want to cause any issues for my babies after reading all of the posts above about needing to cook freshwater fish first. Thanks!!!Anyone ever bred small fish (guppies, minnows, mollies, platys) for their chickens? I'm thinking of setting up a "pond" with an whiskey barrel or large pot and throwing some livebearing fish in there with some lilies and anacharis water plants and just scooping the fish out a little every day or two for the fish to boost the protein levels.
