[updated] APPROXIMATE Cost of building an 8x12 shed or buying one

I hate to say it, but we spent almost 5,000 on our 8x16. It was the first time we ever did anything this big, and we ended up custom designing it and hiring someone to build it. The shed itself is a goat, chicken, brooder, and storage house. The terrain is very awkward so we had to design around that, but he finished the whole thing in 3 days. If we went back in time, we could have gotten a 10x26 3 stall horse run with a tack room for the same price. We also added an tin roof so that it matched the rest of the house.

It is a 6 foot drop from the back to the ground from the goats deck (closest in picture)

We have started our coop. It will be roughly 10x13. So far i can know the numbers of some of the receipts for supplies, wood, roofing and so on - but i am trrying hard to forget them and not add up the total.

It will only make me happier.

Alienchick - I have a door just like yours - it's leftover from when I replaced it with a door I liked better that was more secure on the back of my house. Nice to see how it will look!

Yeah, I like my door.

I wanted a door with a large window (more light for the hens), and when I saw that one at Habitat, I stood next to it so no one else would lay claim to it and I made sure the store clerk knew that it was MY door.

AlienChick,
I love your coop! This is something I'm wanting to do, as well. Did you use any particular plan(s) for building it?
Great job!! I love it!

@AlienChick , I've been looking around at 8x12 coops and yours has the basic structure that I'm looking for. How has your coop worked out for you? Anything that you would have done differently? Do You have any completed pictures? Interior pictures?

Thanks,
Ed
