Hey everyone! My dad is going through his midlife crisis and bought 5 chicks. But I'm the only one that does the taking care of. So is there anything I need to know? They are a week old today! I got 2 Delawares and 3 rhode islands

I have been giving them fresh water everyday and cleaning out their bedding.

There is a lot of information about raising chicks on this site as well as numerous others. Read up and ask questions on the forums if something doesn't make sense. Enjoy your chicks!

Well, WELCOME to BYC!!!

You will learn a whole lot by reading thru all the forum posts (there's a wealth of info here).
I just bought my first baby chicks a few weeks ago after having spent a year on this forum reading and learning.

Something else that might help you in your situation is the Raising Chickens for Dummies book.
If you've got an Amazon Prime membership, you can get the book within 2 days with free shipping.
Anyway it's got a lot of good "easy to understand" info in it. (I just discovered this book myself even though it's been around for a while.)

I also bought the Building Chicken Coops For Dummies book that I'm using now to build our coop.
I'm saving a whole lot of money building it myself and I'm learning how to build stuff.

Like they said, read up, there is plenty out there to learn. They grow fast. They poop a lot. They are a blast to watch, better than TV sometimes.
