Those are amazing
I always thought cassowaries were too dangerous to keep as pets, are yours tame?
They are only as dangerous as you allow them to be. I dont go in with them :) They cannot be tamed being solitary animals, they will always turn on their owners. They have to be fed and watered from the outside of their enclosures.

Hello I have a question about 1 to 1 1/2 years ago I think I talked to you about a man 70 years old that had about 25 Emu's that he wanted to get rid of. I had called you and we talked a couple of times at that time you had told me that you had cassowaries. So I asked if you give tours and if so if I could work out a deal with the guy with the emus if I could come by your place and see your birds ? You said yes that would be fine. Then I don't know what happened but we lost contact with each other . But now I have joined the American Emu Association and I have met two people Maria that has written several books on Emu's and Tony who has a great love for cassowaries they would both love to come to your farm and see your birds if you still are doing small tours. If you send me a email address I can let you two talk directly thanks for your time

Hi Casuarius,

It is so amazing that you have cassowaries! They are such beautiful and mysterious birds. My husband is from Queensland and last time we were there we went up to the Daintree Rainforest where I took this picture...

I don't know if you've seen that sign before but I thought it was very cleverly done! (lower sign was a speed bump). Not that we want that to happen to any of those birds...

Small world, we live in NC too, just north of Greensboro. Where about are you?

I just got a chick yesterday. I found out it was a girl. I named her Cassie. I'll see if I can post a few pics of her.

By the way, great birds you've got. Is the one in the first picture a girl or a boy? It's such a cute little chick. I could get 50 puppies and never replace the same cuteness that chick has.

I always forget to check softbills for sale haha. She is beautiful! I had no idea you could get a cassowary off of softbills for sale, although there are very interesting birds on there for sale often. I don't know I just didn't think it was common to see a cassowary for sale.

I see you are in Canada. Does Cassie have to go inside a heated building during the winter?

Yes, I live on the countryside so she just comes into the barn. I'll see if I can post a few pictures of her in the barn as soon as I buy a new camera.
