How steep of a chicken ladder can I have. I am putting a ladder from floor of coop(4') to a landing about 18" tall and then another ladder from stoop to ground. I don't want the pitch so steep that my chicken won't or can't use. I am getting my first set of chicks in May and want to have everything just right.

It is often what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning.

My ladder in my big girl coop is probably around 45 degrees. The ladder for my little ones to climb from their run into their coop is probably a little less than that, more gradual. But that's because they're silkies, and silkies aren't known for being the best ramp climbers

Thanks for the information... I will be posting pictures later as I think I will have a little less pitch.. Almost embarrassed to post too many pictures as my coop is missing the final touches..

You can also put a raised platform under the ladder/ramp (chickens hop on the platform and then up the ladder)

Maybe a couple cinder blocks would do the trick if you don't want to make a long ladder/ramp.
