This is my first incubating try and today at 5:00 a.m., day 22, one chick got out of the shell, followed by 3 more at differernt times of the day, the last being at 5:eek:o pm. How long can I leave the live chicks in with the remaining 4 eggs before I can should remove the live chicks. I know the chicks can live a couple of days without food and water, and I also know I am not to open the incubator and lose the humidity and heat for the remaining unhatched eggs. What should I do? Thanks for any help. You guys are great! Benny

They can survive off of their ubsorbed yolk for 3 days, So they can stay

in the incubator with no food or anything for three days straight with no problem. It's

how chicks that are shipped survive. Generally, you only have to keep them in

there until all the others hatch, because opening the 'bator to take chicks out while

others are hatching can shrink wrap the hatching eggs.
