And Stevo, sounds like you've had quite the ordeal...cancer's ran me through the grinder a few times, too, with lots of surgeries and some flaps. All the best to you.

My home computer is giving me fits, so unfortunately I am unable to post pics. Well the vet came out Friday and confirmed that it is skin cancer. Unfortunately it is all around her sphincter (sp) muscles so the vet is unable to surgically remove the bulk of the tumor. She said that if we just freeze it then it will come right back very quickly. The vet also said that is has probably already spread inside, by the looks of the outside. So the plan is to just keep a close eye on her and when it starts affecting her quality of life the vet will come put her down. Poor thing, I feel bad because I never thought to put sunscreen on her backside and she is so young. Hopefully it will take awhile before causing problems. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Sorry to hear that! And, unfortunately you saw the end to the thread over on BYH...I sure hope that's not what's in store for you, but if you need help/suggestions I'm sure she'd be of assistance.

I'm so very sorry about her diagnosis.

There's absolutely no blame to be placed on you or her for this

...and even the best lifelong diet and care does not prevent cancer when it chooses to strike. Cancer is scary, and hurtful things that blame the victims can be said by well meaning folks, and even our own minds.

I'm so sorry.

I know that your posting is several years old, but wondered whatever happened to your goat. Is she still alive?

My 9 yr old NGD was diagnosed with the same thing today. She is white and so pretty. Hers is on her nose. It started just looking like her nose was dirty. Then like a clod of dirt. Then like a dark piece of cauliflower. As with yours, She seems to be doing just fine. Active and eating. But the vet pretty much said it was going to be a losing battle to cut it off and she's probably die from getting an infection on the site of the surgery as its virtually impossible to keep that area from exposure.

Just wondered what happened in your story...
