Anyone have pictures of their roosts?

Now that my chicks are fully integrated, it's time to take the dog kennel out and build a roost. I have one chick that will not be able to fly very high. My Cochin frizzle is very heavy and feathers are curled.

I only have 5 feet for the width, so I was thinking a multi level roost? I search the Internet, but I'm not really seeing any good ideas. I have 8 chicks and my coop is 12x5x8.

Sorry no pics but you should be able to come up with something. Multi-level roosts are a good idea. Chickens roost together so you want to make sure they have room and options. I have 3 roosts and they all perfer the higher. They use the lower to jump up onto the higher ones and for gazing out the window. Place them so you yourself have easy access in/out of the coop, not banging your head or always ducking under the roosts. You also want to place them were they're droppings won't be landing in their feed/water. Chickens poop alot when roosting and most of my bird's droppings acculumate below the roosts. Good luck designing. I'm sure whatever you come up with your chickens will like.
 
Glad you posted this... I have been trying to do some researching on how to make a "real" roost (with little success)... Mine are still young and have been so called roosting on the old brooder box I have in the coop... It is really time to break it down and use the wood for roosts.

Yes hinger the top.Those are buff orpington babies that I got last year to put under that black sexlink that weny broody,she sat on golf balls untill they came,then I went out at night and pulled the golf balls and slipped those babies under her,she was a great mom.
 
Here is mine...simple enough for my 5 girls...funny thing is, it is almost 6 foot long and they only sleep on the ends....silly birds. I guess they will use more of it as they get older and larger.

I was thinking of grabbing some skinny trees from the back woods. We have plenty wood either way. I love the pictures.
