Thanks. I read somewhere on this site that a rounded roost, 3"- 6" in diameter was ideal for chickens so that's what they're getting.

16 pullets live in that coop. Its 330 sq ft. I don't do the 4 sq ft rule. Chickens need alot of space. They seem real content in there. I got my first egg from these pullets yesterday at 18 weeks. My other reds didn't lay till they were 25 weeks.

See my BYC page (link in sig) for photos. I have a tall, skinny building and the chix' preferred roosts are 8 feet or so up. They reach them via a ladder I made.

The roosts are actually structural 2x4s.
