Black rooster with lacing on neck feathers?

He was given to me a few years ago and was told he is a black astralorp... he looks like one but has white lacing on the neck/saddle feathers? what is he?
 
he is:) i will upload a pic soon... his comb was frost bitten so he's missing the tips.... and 2 toes... haha he ran away all winter and came back this spring:)
 
Oh wow, that's amazing that you got him back after that winter! He sounds like an amazing bird, in both personality and looks~

He may have one Australorp parent but he's not pure. Better pic would help but I'm thinking he's a nice mixed breed roo.
 
barnyard mix is what i thought... my aunt has one that looks like him and said its a "german i forgot the rest" every time i ask her...
