When do Wyandottes generally start laying?

My 3 GLW hens started laying @ 24 or 25 weeks. A little earlier than many have posted. All I can think of as an excuse is I spoil my birds and they get to free range daily wherever they like including the garden. I've picked up old veggies from market all year, and dedicated extra garden space to chicken feed. they've had more broccoli and stuff this year than I have. lol They're all voracious RAPTORS whenever they get tomatoes. Its fun to get a handful of cherry tomatoes and toss them here n there in the yard. They've all but cleared the yard of grasshoppers/ spiders/ flies/ well almost everything but the bigger toads.

Don't think free ranging has anything to do with it. I have 3 Wyandottes. 2 have been laying since July....one has even gone broody and is back laying but my SL has not layed yet. All free range and are happy little carnivorous. You can also tell who is laying just by looking at the color of their combs/wattles. The two that lay have bright red combs while the non layer's is still pink.
It was interesting to note that when the one went broody, her comb reverted back to pink and when she started laying again it turned back to a bright red.

My chickens are now about 40 weeks old and still no eggs -_- C'mon girrlls

40 weeks? Yikes! My girls just hit 32 weeks and no sign of laying...

I'm keeping the faith they will get it together and start cranking out eggs. Next weekend I'm hosting a backyard chicken workshop where we normally sell eggs. With the little ones not yet laying and two Orps in molt, I'm not holding much hope for egg sales. At least this will be a teachable moment for my guests.

Still have 1 of 4 not laying at 34 weeks.

From what I have read, the eggs will get larger as the hens reach maturity, which for Wyandottes is at about 18 months. The three hens that are laying, the average weight of the eggs at 25 week was 41 grams, now it's 52 grams.
