OXINE seems fabulous. Users please share usage, dosage, storage, etc.

I used about that much and the pox was cleared within a few days. I even used it with weekold chicks. It help putting it in the drinking water 1:4 ratio, wet pox cleared up completely. It was a do or die situation so I was willing to give it a shot.
Maybe I'll try that on one of my wet pox patients ( I have about ten right now).

That's the dosage I've seen for drinking water: ~1/8 tsp unactivated Oxine per 1 gal drinking water (or 3-5 drops Oxine per 4 cups drinking water).

For nebulization, the dose is 2 1/2 teaspoons non-activated Oxine AH per 1 cup misting water.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about Oxine dosing and the dosing info in my previous post was something I found when doing a quick search.

I am very allergic to home cleaning products. Can I use oxine as a bathroom cleaner? I cant use bleach, but I dont react at all to oxine. Thanks!

I just purchased one gallon of Oxine. Planning to add it to the flock drinking water. Using 6.5 oz per gallon the material will not last long. I usually fill/clean 10 gallons of water per week.
10 gallons water x 6.5oz Oxine = 65oz
1 gallon = 128oz / 65oz = only two weeks worth of material!
Is this correct?

If this is true I need to use the Activated Oxine which is 1 oz per 30 gallons of water. Is it ok to store the activated Oxine in a diluted form to make it easier to dispense?

Please don't use activated Oxine around your chickens. It is toxic to animals and humans when activated. You can use it to disinfect things but not in or around food or water sources and you have to wear a respirator when using it.

1/8 tsp per gallon of drinking water
6.5 oz per gallon for a solution to disinfect coop, waterers, feeders, etc. Safe around animals.

Activated oxine is not safe for chickens. Also, from what I have read and my own use of oxine, the ratio you are talking about is **way too much oxine**. You are supposed to use 1oz of non-activated oxine per 30 gallons of drinking water. Check out this link for oxine uses and amounts: http://www.revivalanimal.com/articles/how-to-use-oxine-ah.html

Just a word of caution. I can see using oxine on a sick animal, or to sanitize a coop but constant use is going to 1. increase the likelihood of resistant strains developing and 2. lower your chickens resistance to disease. There is no miracle spray or drug, we are in a race against viruses, bacteria, fungus, ect. We "develop" things to kill them and they develop resistance. Antibiotic resistance has become such a problem in part because of indiscriminate, widespread use of them. The more a product is used the faster it happens.
