I have the Fleming Outdoors electric automatic coop door & I love it. It has no wood to rot & the door is made of aluminum so it won't rust. It comes with all you need to set it up, all you have to do is cut a hole in the wall, install the unit over it & plug it in. It comes with a timer so you set the current time, the time you want it to open in the morning & when you want to have it close in the evening.
 
if you have string you can run it to a window and just close them in at night and open it up in the morning it works great for us and it was very cheap.
 
It's pricey, but I HIGHLY recommend the battery-powered, light sensor controlled automatic door from Foy's.

I have 3 auto doors, and two of 'em are the Electronic Doorkeeper from Foy's. The third is not, and needs electrical power (which I have) in the coop to operate. Not real fond of this door..... it can only be controlled by a timer, and I've had two timer's fail to operate it properly. I think they get dust into their works and no longer progress with actual passing time.
 
Yes yes yes. My husband put one on our coop and we love it. We still check them everynight, but it's great to know they are all closed up and safe if we are out past dark and it is fantastic in the morning! I would definitely recommend it!
 
What brand is the other one? The Fleming one comes highly recommended and has a timer that is inside the coop. I have electricity to the coop, so that isn't a problem.

I looked at the Foy's ones, but I can't figure out what you have to order to make it work. Do you buy the doorkeeper and the door and the idler and the timer separately? Does the door come with a track? The website is awful. http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/catalog/2100-2107.html

With the Foy's Electronic Doorkeeper, I bought the Inside mounted unit, it has the light sensor included, and then the door the size I wanted. It comes with the tracks. That's all I needed. The idler pulley thing is for odd installations or replacement parts. If you have the inside mounted unit, you do not need a timer because the included light sensor controls the door operation.

The light sensor works very, very well. Bright moonlight does not activate it, and yet it still opens on cloudy days.
