The Kosher King chicks we ordered from Noll's Hatchery arrived on Thursday. We ordered 50 chicks, and 52 arrived. We raised Freedom Rangers this spring, so I'm interested to see how the growth rate on these birds compares. Our FR's reached an average of 5.5 pounds apiece by 9 weeks.

Anyone else raise these birds? What were your growth rates?

Yes I liked them very well want to do thier red and white birds next. They say the reds get the biggest. But my KK dressed out a 4-5 lbs at 11-12 weeks.

They will, I did not type that right. At 11 weeks (Hot Kansas Summer 100+ every day) they dressed all over 5 pounds. That would be live weight over 7 lbs and that was a year or so ago. I just spoke to Mr. Noll yesterday and he said they now get even bigger. I have also raised FR and I found the KK to be healthier and grew faster and alot cheaper. I did not push mine with 20-22% feed either that was on 16-17% feed.

It is so nice to see someone else on here trying them. You will notice most will just ignore them rather than try them. Are yours really active? What was the price difference from them and the FR if you don't mind me asking?

Oh. Didn't notice you'd typed "dressed out". I should've read more closely. That's my bad.

I paid about $2/bird including shipping for the FR's. With Noll I paid $1.51/bird including shipping.

Their activity level is pretty comparable to the FR's I had earlier this year.

Do their adult feathers come in lighter? When he told me that they were grey birds, I was expecting a light grey. The chicks look more black to me.

Sorry it took me a day or two to get back was out of town. Yes they will feather out like a barred rock on steroids. I noticed some have a really pretty gold sheen or white sheen around the neck once they get bigger. So what do you think of them? I just talked to Nolls a few days ago and he said that his newer chickens should even be bigger. I asked the wife what she thought they dressed out at at 11-12 weeks and she said more like 6-7 lbs. After going to the store and seeing a 4-5 lb bird I am sure they where at least 6-7 we did not weigh them. I know I sold some and the one guy claimed I was selling him small turkeys not chickens LOL:lol:

I guess I like them okay. At this age all they're doing is eating and pooping. Oh wait. They're meat birds. That's all they ever do!

I will probably weigh them this weekend. I waited til my other meat birds were 2 weeks old to weigh them. They'll be about 11 days old tomorrow.

I weighed my Kosher Kings today, and I'm a bit disappointed. My Kosher Kings average weight was 6.7 ounces. At 2 weeks old my Freedom Rangers weighed 8.6 ounces.

I'll be interested to see how their weights compare next week when I weigh them again.
