It makes me sad looking through this thread form the start. There was nothing I could do to help Flora but if I had the knowledge that I have now then I could have easily saved Ruby.

I have had my girls now since june last year and i love them! Continually struggling with a muddy coop since autumn but keep putting fresh straw down . Any suggestions? carolyn.

Also found these comments which could help
"some sort of drainage and material that will soak up water before it turns the ground into mud. All i do is I put a weed supressant matrial down in the run, covered it in sand, then gravel, and then i use hard wood chip. my run might get water on it, but it doesnt turn into mud now. Oh yeh and I put down hemp on top which absorbs any wet as well and I rake over once a week if they are in their run, but mine actually free ranged mostly anyway"
