BOSS = Black Oil Sunflower Seed

Black Oil Sunflower Seed is only 15 - 17% protein but can contain around 25% fats.

When feeding Boss do you feed shelled or unshelled sunflower seeds?

You can feed whole as is or soak them overnight in water help the chickens break the fibrous shell better.

Sunflower seed hearts (shelled sunflowers) tend to have more protein than boss and also can be fed to you flock.

I used to soak for a day. On occasion esp in winter I'd let them sprout then feed them.
