What sex are these?

This little bugger has me stumped, it is Purebred D'Uccle S/he has what look like pointed hackle feathers,some times they look pointy other times they look like just the feather patterning like my ameracauna pullets. Just now getting the pink to its comb, and is 3 1/2 months old! sorry the little bugger wouldn't stand!

Silkie Cross gender? also 3 1/2 months same hatch.Other parent is either a D'Uccle or Cochin

they are both pullets...with d'uccles you can tell cockerels and pullets apart at 3+ weeks combs are small on both of them as well

I have a few D'Uccle the only prob is that even the Roos don't like it, My little Aunry started the same way and surely enough is a Roo, but didn't crow until 8 months! not to mention all my Roos don't like it which makes me think otherwise!
I think the silkie has D'Uccle in it too!

#1 definitely a pullet. #2 pretty sure its a pullet if thats a single comb on her head and not a pea comb

D'uccles are VERY easy to sex, by a month old the boys have a prominent and red comb on their heads while the girls stay pinkish until much much later. If #1 was a boy at 3.5 months old then she'd have a full blown roo comb and bright red face. the reason you think your seeing pointy hackles is because she has penciling/lacing in those feathers, it makes the feather appear pointed, especially in a group of laced/penciled feathers.

#2 are you sure its a silkie mix? I don't see anything about the bird that screams silkie at all....I would expect much darker skin, and atleast as light tuft on the head since silkies are crested, even my d'uccle X sultan mix has a slight raise on the back of his head behind his comb...

O.K so today i tried introducing the D'Uccle in ? in with my D'Uccle Roo and the little one in ? attacked my Roo! Any ideas as to why this is if it were a pullet? Yesterday I had given it a bath and blow dried it, let it see the Roo and Roo see it before introduction.
Just out of curiousity what other breed besides silkie has Black skin and 5 Toes with feathered feet!

favorelles and Sultans are 5 toed breeds. sultans have feather feet and I think favorelles do too. D'uccles can have dark skin, but not black. Do you see Corvette's (my picture'd girl) her toes in that picture? that is black skin on a chicken...is your girl's feet/legs that dark? is her body dark skinned as well? if so then yes she does have silkie in her, I just don't 'see' it - lol.

I have bantam hens who boss and attack standard size roosters. - she is rejecting him - thats why she attacked him. did you put her in his pen or him in her pen?
Trust me if thats a single comb (which it appears to be) on #1 - its all female. if she is 3.5 months old, shes not ready to be put in with a mature rooster who will attempt to mate her. If the boy is a young cockerel around her age, shes just bossing him in his place as shes a dominant girl. If they are the same age - you can put them together, just keep an eye on them and make sure the fighting doesn't get too bad - but nitpicking and a bit of fighting is normal til they get used to each other. Its best to put her in his pen or remove both from a pen for a couple days and put them in together at the same time, this puts them on equal ground and makes it a bit calmer atmosphere for them to get used to each other.

Yes it is silkie! the light doesn't do it's skin color justice, the skin over its body is as black as the legs and has 5 toes on each foot, I have seen some silkie crosses that don't have crests. Rare but there are some!

Yes, you've got a couple of pullets on your hands.

I was talking to the person I got the hatching eggs from and she said that right before I came to pick up the eggs she had a Gold laced cochin hen and Roo that she had given away! And she seems to think second chick is a Gold laced cochin Silkie Cross. So could it be a gold laced cochin silkie cross, since one parent has doesn't have a crested or bearded gene I could see one of the offspring not having a crest or beard especially if the silkie carried one copy of the crested/beard gene and one of the non Crested Gene. who knows but now that I look at it I can see cochin and Silkie in it, but silkies have rounded bums and not straight tail feathers. could it be that one of he parents wasn't pure and was cross, it would explain alot if one parent was a cross, as to why the chick is so different looking! and no true silkie shows in it except the Skin color and 5 toes.
